“O you who believe, fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that you may (learn) self-restraint.” Qur’an 2:183

The Ramadan Prayer Time Calendar is here: Ramadan 1441 Calendar (April - May, 2020)
The blessed month of Ramadan provides us an opportunity for worship and soul purification and we should strive to dedicate this month to worshipping, renewing, and strengthening our connection with our creator, Allah (swt). May Allah (swt) help all of us hold steadfast to praying, fasting, reading Quran, and giving charity during this month. May Allah strengthen our Iman - Belief, bless our community, and accept from us all.
Abu Hurayrah ( may Allah be pleased with him) reported that The Prophet ﷺ ( Peace and Blessings be upon him) said:
“When Ramdan enters, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hellfire are closed and the devils are chained” (Al-Bukari and Muslim)
Abu Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ(peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Every action a son of Adam does shall be multiplied—a good action by ten times its value, up to 700 times. Allah says: With the exception of fasting, which belongs to Me, and I reward it accordingly. For, one abandons his desire and food for My sake."
There are two occasions of joy for a fasting person: one when he breaks his fast, and the other when he meets his Lord, and the (bad) breath (of a fasting person) is better in the sight of Allah than the fragrance of musk. (Al-Bukhari)
"And surely We shall try you with something of fear and hunger, and loss of wealth and lives and crops; but give glad tidings to the patient, Who says, when afflicted with calamity: “To Allah We belong, and to Him is our return”: They are those on whom (descend) Blessings from Allah, and Mercy, and they are the ones that receive guidance." (Al-Baqarah 2:155-157)
Abu Sa`id and Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with them) reported that The Prophet ﷺ (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“No fatigue, nor disease, nor anxiety, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim).
In respecting the extreme value Islam places on life, health and safety of our community, the Sammamish Muslim Association is creating an alternative program for Ramadan 2020 as detailed below. We are canceling many of our usual activities, moving those that remain online and creating new ones. If the situation changes in the future, we will change our plans. Let’s persevere and come out of this healthier and stronger insha'Allah.
Because of the current restrictions, our weekly community Iftars, including the large interfaith Iftar are canceled. Iteekaf at the Masjid is also canceled.
Jurists from all four schools of thought agree that Tarāwīḥ prayer is a Sunnah for both men and women. The Prophet ﷺ established it as a practice and encouraged his companions to do so as well. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf (ra) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Allah has made fasting the month of Ramadān obligatory upon you and I have made standing in prayer during its nights a practice.”
This Sunnah can be practiced and fulfilled by praying at home. Under these circumstances, where the masājid are closed, we shouldn’t feel that our practice or performance of tarāwīh at home is in some way deficient. The narration mentioned above is general and absolute and does not specify where tarāwīḥ should be performed. Allah’s mercy is infinite and inshAllah we will receive unimaginable rewards for praying at home.
