Muslim History Book Club

When: Sundays, 4:30pm
Cost: Free!
How to join: Email eventsandvolunteering@sammamishmosque.com

This club has a discussion based format where participants read chapters from a chosen book and meet weekly. Currently, the book club is reading Destiny Disrupted: A History of the World Through Islamic Eyes by Tamim Ansary. This book tries to capture how the world evolved for the nascent Muslims. Sandwiched between two great empires, the Byzantine and the Sassanids (Persians), the early Muslims emerged from their nomadic roots to build an empire that would overshadow those in the Middle East and the Mediterranean World. But the more they expanded, the more elusive became the definition of Islam, merging and separating into a myriad of beliefs, colored by the kaleidoscope of cultures that it overlay, fragmented by political intrigue and the diversity of approaches used to deal with an increasingly complex world.

We are happy to share with you the formation of Assirat Academy Boys’ Youth Group at Sammamish Mosque. The purpose of forming the group is to provide an opportunity for our young boys to get together, to socialize, and to form a bond of friendship. As you know, in this busy age of technology and social media taking our youth by storm, it is very important that our youth boys spend some time together in a healthy and Islamic environment. We will arrange lots of healthy activities for them so that young kids vent their energy. Insha’Allah under good supervision our young kids will not only be an asset for the masjid but also for the community. It is their opportunity to be away from their mobile devices and social media and spend time together in an active, healthy and Islamic environment. Insha’Allah, the program will include many activities.

Cost: $40 per month
How to join: Email eventsandvolunteering@sammamishmosque.com

We are glad to start off a “Mom and Tot” program. This program will Insha’Allah benefit both toddlers/babies and their Moms. The focus of this training is to understand the thinking process of toddlers and to guide parents to understand their kids better.  This is necessary becauselots of times we believe that the kids are too small to comprehend things but, on the contrary, they understand a lot and can act accordingly. The purpose of this program is to enable mothers to nurture and expose the inner capabilities of their kids. Sr Wahida and Sr Ruba, both of who trained and experienced in this field, are helping us conduct this training.
